GENERAL COMMENTS

Gisella La Madrid, MA, RCC-ACS, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Child Specialist, Parent Therapist, and Clinical Director of Strong Ties – Child & Family Services. She specializes in child and adolescent counselling, high-conflict separation and divorce, co-parenting, parent-child relationships, and complex family dynamics. Gisella takes an integrative, child-focused, and relational approach to counselling, drawing from attachment-based, family systems, and trauma-informed perspectives. She is passionate about helping children and families navigate challenges and transitions, strengthen relationships, and develop practical strategies that support emotional well-being. As a Child Specialist and a Divorce Coach in the Collaborative Divorce process, she works alongside parents, lawyers, and other professionals to support child-focused approaches to separation and divorce. She also provides parent therapy, co-parenting counselling, and Hear the Child services. Gisella holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Adler University and a Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology. Her professional experience includes work in neuropsychiatry at BC Children’s Hospital and research at Simon Fraser University. She is an Approved Clinical Supervisor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and provides services in English and Spanish.
